Job Description

Dam Break Analysis & Emergency Planning Specialist [International Expert] :-

He/She should have a degree in Civil Engineering with post graduate degree in Hydraulic or Hydrology and have at least experience of 15 years in hydrological and hydraulic modelling in MIKE, HEC_HMS or any other relevant advanced modelling tool etc. have dealt with flood routing, dam break analysis, inundation mappings, operational protocols of dams using state-of-the-art mathematical models for preparation of Emergency Action Plans (EAP), integrated operation of cascade of reservoirs etc. He/She should have been involved in preparation of at least dam break analysis and inundation mappings for 10 large dam projects as well as including inundation mappings etc.


Job Responsibility:


  • Act as the

    subject matter expert

    for all tasks related to

    Dam Break Analysis

    and

    Inundation Mapping

    .
  • Lead the

    preparation and finalization of Tier-I documents

    following standards from BIS Codes, national guidelines/manuals, or international best practices.
  • Provide

    technical support

    for the development and finalization of

    Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)

    .
  • Facilitate and support

    stakeholder consultation meetings

    .
  • Review and finalize plans presented in

    Project Support Teams (PSTs)

    .
  • Design and deliver

    customized training courses

    on:
  • Dam Break Analysis
  • Inundation Mapping
  • Preparation and implementation of EAPs
  • Conduct

    capacity building programs

    for DRIP Implementing Agencies (IAs).
  • Perform

    integrated flood routing studies

    for cascades of reservoirs.
  • Assist in the

    finalization of integrated operations

    of important or cascade reservoirs.
  • Undertake

    need-based flood routing studies

    to determine routed floods for specific reservoirs.
  • Conduct

    dam safety inspections

    and manage related documentation and communication (transmittals).
  • Develop and implement

    training calendars and schedules

    aligned with the annual DRIP Calendar.
  • Provide inputs for

    revision and formulation of guidelines

    related to dam safety and EAPs.
  • Contribute data and insights to the

    National Dam Safety Information System

    and

    Management Information System (MIS)

    .
  • Support the

    development of in-house expertise

    at select academic institutions.
  • Participate in

    national and international conferences

    via technical paper submissions and presentations in collaboration with CPMU, CWC.
  • Support preparation of

    Project Rehabilitation Reports (PRRs)

    .
  • Assist in the

    finalization and training

    of the

    Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance (CS&QA) Manual and Plan

    .
  • Deliver

    Training of Trainers (ToT)

    for DRIP IAs to enhance their CS&QA capabilities.
  • Undertake

    need-based inspections

    of DRIP dams.
  • Accompany

    Central Dam Safety Review Panel (DSRP)

    teams for special safety issues.
  • Perform

    any other DRIP-related activities

    as assigned by the Project Director, DRIP, CWC.
