Counsel 3 - Product - Officer- Hybrid

As a Legal Counsel (Counsel III) for Citis Investment Banking Legal team in Asia Pacific, your role involves working in a team of lawyers based in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Mumbai with coverage focusing on all jurisdictions in Asia where Citi operates. Your responsibilities include providing legal coverage of transactions such as IPOs, follow-on offerings, block trades, convertible bond offerings in equity capital markets, and investment grade and high yield bond deals in debt capital markets. You will also be involved in deal document review and negotiation, legal risk management, liaising with external counsels, and working on internal projects. This role requires a pragmatic, proactive attorney with a thorough understanding of the Business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in the laws and regulations for the geographies in which Citi operates. Key Responsibilities: - Provide legal counsel to the Business and participate in strategic initiatives - Analyze business proposals, produce documentation, and apply institutional knowledge against industry standards and regulatory guidelines - Collaborate across internal lines of business, control/support functions, and external counsel to achieve coordinated outcomes - Evaluate and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risk by following legal developments and participating in internal projects - Manage day-to-day legal activities in your area of responsibility and provide advisory services to business partners - Assess risk when making business decisions, drive compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and effectively supervise the activity of others Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in law and qualification to practice law in India or other common law jurisdiction - 2-5 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services - Knowledge of international laws, regulations, and practices in the banking or financial industry - Ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop solutions - Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and relationship management skills - Bar license in good standing to practice law - Strong written and spoken English skills - Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree At Citi, you will have the opportunity to grow your career, give back to your community, and make a real impact.
