Job description: Job Description: Consultant RadiologistJob Title: Consultant Radiologist Department: Radiology Reports to: Clinical Director / Head of Radiology Location: Thane Contract Type: Part-time Job Purpose The Consultant Radiologist will provide high-quality diagnostic imaging and clinical radiology services, ensuring timely and accurate interpretation of studies and contributing to safe, effective patient care. The postholder will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, participate in service development, and uphold the highest standards of clinical governance and professional practice. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties Interpret a wide range of diagnostic imaging studies, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and other modalities within the individual’s scope of practice. Provide clear, accurate, and timely imaging reports to support clinical decision-making. Perform image-guided procedures such as biopsies, drainages, injections, or interventional radiology procedures (where appropriate). Offer expert advice to referring clinicians on imaging selection and patient management pathways. Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, contributing imaging expertise to patient management plans. Ensure patient safety, including appropriate use of ionising radiation and contrast media, in accordance with regulatory standards. Supervision & Leadership Provide clinical leadership within the radiology team, promoting high standards of professional practice. Supervise registrars, junior doctors, radiographers, and sonographers, offering guidance, teaching, and mentorship. Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental protocols and imaging guidelines. Governance & Quality Participate in clinical audit, discrepancy meetings, peer review, and quality assurance activities. Ensure adherence to relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks (e.g., IRMER/IRR, infection control, data protection). Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the radiology department. Key Skills & Attributes Excellent diagnostic accuracy and clinical judgment. Strong communication skills with clinicians, patients, and colleagues. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to patient-centred care, quality, and safety. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks Medical Education Primary medical degree (e.g., MBBS, MBChB, MD, or equivalent recognised medical qualification Completion of a formal postgraduate specialist training programme in Radiology Full GMC registration with licence to practise CCT in Clinical Radiology (Certificate of Completion of Training) Job Type: Part-time
