This is an exciting opportunity to join the west of Scotland Immunology & Anaphylaxis service and to develop as an independent practitioner in a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist role. In application, you will have relevant registered nurse experience and have an interest in training and supporting patients with life-long conditions to manage their own care in both the Immunology and Anaphylaxis services.
- You will have the skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care to support patient compliance with treatment regimes. Being certified in Clinical Assessment and Non-Medical Prescribing is advantageous to the role and if not already attained, you will have the opportunity to train and expand your education in this specialty, as the post requires.
- You will act as a resource for expert advice and training, whilst facilitating an immediate point of contact for urgent patient consultation. You will support a clinical caseload, plan efficient outpatient care & independent follow up reviews to support physical and mental wellbeing. As a nurse specialist you will provide patient/ family education in both hospital and community settings to maintain the condition and prevent the need for hospital admission.
- You must have the ability to work independently and possess a high level of interpersonal and confident communication skills to support this specific client group whilst managing telephone consultations, patient referrals, interface with hospital clinicians and general practitioners to maintain excellent clinical links between the services, whilst upholding confidentiality at all times. You will independently assess and treat patients in hospital day wards, OP clinics, and also in patients’ home settings.
- You will be responsible for teaching, audit, research, participate in service development in conjunction with the team lead and maintain service objectives to meet the changing demands of delivering specialised care to patients with Primary Immunodeficiencies and Allergy/ Anaphylaxis care You will be expected to contribute professionally within groups which may cross-traditional or service boundaries and possess a high level of ITC skills including e- forms, Trakcare and portal. All Statutory / Mandatory Learnpro training modules must be compliant and include educational modules relevant to this specialty.
The successful candidate will be based in South Sector, Greater Glasgow & Clyde, however will have a wider remit and be expected to travel and consult patients across various Sectors/ Health Boards to support the service where required.Shift pattern is variable Monday - Friday working to meet service requirements.
