Job Description

Job Title: Chief Strategy & Transformation

Department: CMD Office

Reporting To: CMD

Objective:

The Chief Strategy & Transformation will act as the strategic partner, supporting enterprise-wide initiatives, driving business expansion, transforming processes, and enabling high-impact decision-making. This is a senior leadership role responsible for translating vision into execution, aligning cross-functional teams, and ensuring business priorities are delivered with speed and accuracy.

Key Result Areas:

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy, Planning & Business Expansion

  • Partner with CMD to develop long-term business strategy, annual plans, and new growth roadmaps.
  • Lead market research, competition benchmarking, and opportunity assessments across business verticals.
  • Evaluate and drive new business ventures, acquisitions, JVs, and international expansion opportunities.
  • Support capital allocation decisions with data-driven analysis and financial modelling.

2. Enterprise Program Management (PMO Leadership)

  • Lead and monitor all CMD-driven strategic projects with clear milestones and KPIs.
  • Build a central PMO dashboard for tracking progress, risks, dependencies, and escalations.
  • Ensure interdepartmental alignment and resolve bottlenecks impacting execution.
  • Review performance metrics and present insights for course correction.

3. Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Act as the CMDs representative in leadership reviews and strategic discussions.
  • Coordinate with business heads (HR, Finance, Operations, Legal, BD, Projects, Manufacturing).
  • Facilitate decision-making by preparing structured briefs and ensuring clarity in communication.
  • Manage senior-level internal and external stakeholders, consultants, partners, and government bodies.

4. Operations Excellence & Process Improvement

  • Identify operational inefficiencies and drive productivity improvement across plants, HO, and new units.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to redesign SOPs, governance models, and workflow standardization.
  • Lead transformation projects including automation, digitization, and cost-optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance readiness for expansionslegal, regulatory, safety, HR, and operational frameworks.

5. Business Performance Monitoring

  • Track KPIs across business units and highlight deviations with action recommendations.
  • Drive quarterly and monthly business reviews with CMD, ensuring data accuracy and insights.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cost-control initiatives, and strategic resource planning.

Other requirements:

Industry: Manufacturing

Years of Experience:

  • 15+ years of total experience
  • Minimum 8+ years in strategy, PMO, business transformation, or corporate planning roles
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, chemicals, industrials, or diversified conglomerates is preferred

Education qualification:

  • MBA from a Tier 1 / Tier 2 Business School (Strategy, General Management, Operations or Finance specialization preferred)
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering / Commerce / Economics
  • Additional certifications in Strategy, Six Sigma, PMO, Digital Transformation are an advantage.
