Chartering Executive, based at Mumbai

Role Summary:

As a Chartering Executive, you will support the chartering desk in fixing vessels on voyage and time charters. You will interact with brokers, ship owners, and cargo owners to identify business opportunities and close deals that align with the company’s commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle post and pre-fixture activities under supervision.

• Assist in negotiating charter party terms for both voyage and time charters.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, ship owners/operators, and cargo clients.

• Analyze freight market trends, vessel positions, and cargo flows to support the commercial team.

• Maintain up-to-date market reports and records in internal systems.

• Support the documentation and operational follow-up post fixture.

• Prepare internal reports including daily market reports, position lists, and fixtures.

• Maintain an updated database of cargoes, owners, operators, and brokers.

Key Competencies:

• 1–5 years of experience in dry bulk chartering (preferably from owner/operator or broking desk).

• Knowledge of shipping markets, freight rates, and charter party agreements.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proficient in MS Office, Excel, and shipping software tools (e.g., IMOS, Q88, ShipNet).

• Bachelor’s degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, or related field.

• Team player with commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
