Channel Quality Engineer

SKF INDIA LIMITEDInternal Job Posting – Pune Factory Job Title: Channel QPI Engineer – Quality & Process Improvement Level: 4B (5B or 5A for internal candidates) Education: Diploma / Bachelor’s in Mechanical / Production Engineering Experience: 5 to 8 years Purpose of the Role To ensure defect-free supplies to customers by improving, stabilizing, and strengthening processes while fostering a strong quality culture across the plant. Key Responsibilities Develop robust detection systems and stabilize generation processes. Deploy best practices across the plant in collaboration with the Plant Quality team. Drive the License to Inspect Program to certify operators for processes. Build and sustain a quality culture through awareness, process discipline, and operator training. Conduct capability mapping and initiate corrective actions to stabilize processes and meet customer requirements. Work closely with cross-functional teams (CFT) to reduce CoNQ (Cost of Non-Quality). Ensure implementation of CRA, PFMEA-based risk mitigation, Hidden Factor Analysis, and Zero Defect initiatives. Analyze repetitive deviations and implement robust, long-term solutions. Ensure Right First Time (RFT) quality after resets through standardized troubleshooting procedures. Update quality documents and systems in the channel handbook to reflect process changes. Key Metrics Reduction in customer complaints Cost of Non-Quality (CoNQ) Number of Poka-yoke implementations Process capability improvement MSA (Measurement System Analysis) results Core Competencies Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, etc.) Familiarity with ISO / IATF quality standards Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Proficiency in statistical tools: SPC, MSA, Process Capability Strong interpersonal and communication skills Candidate Profile Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering Diploma / Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial / Production) Certified Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
