Category Manager

As a Category Buyer at Vishal Mega Mart, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing the Personal Care and Home Care product portfolio. Your role will encompass strategic sourcing, vendor management, product development, cost negotiation, quality assurance, and market analysis to ensure the provision of high-quality, competitively priced, and innovative private label offerings that align with customer demands and business objectives. Your key responsibilities will include developing and executing comprehensive category strategies for products such as skincare, haircare, oral care, bath & body, household cleaning, and laundry care. This will involve conducting thorough market research, trend analysis, and competitive benchmarking to identify new product opportunities and category white spaces. Additionally, you will analyze sales data, customer feedback, and market insights to optimize product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies while also managing OTB and allocation plans. In terms of sourcing and vendor management, you will be expected to identify, evaluate, and onboard new manufacturers and suppliers globally and domestically for private label products. It will be crucial to ensure adherence to quality, ethical, and sustainability standards. You will also oversee existing vendor relationships, monitor performance, and drive improvements in product quality, delivery, and service. Furthermore, you will play a pivotal role in commercial and financial management by delivering on budgeted sales, margin, and RGM targets. This will involve managing category budgets, sales forecasts, and inventory levels to maintain optimal stock availability and minimize waste. Regular cost analysis will be conducted to identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality, while monitoring category performance against key KPIs like sales growth, gross margin, inventory turnover, and market share. Ensuring quality and compliance is paramount in your role. You will collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance team to guarantee that all private label products meet stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements. Addressing any product quality issues or customer complaints effectively and promptly will also fall under your purview. To excel in this position, you should possess a Master's degree along with 8-12 years of relevant experience.
