Job Description

As an Apache Cassandra Administrator, your responsibilities will include: - Installing, configuring, and upgrading Apache Cassandra (Open Source, DataStax, ScyllaDB). - Monitoring cluster health, node status, and replication factors to ensure high availability (HA) and disaster recovery strategies are in place. - Optimizing Cassandra data models, partitions, and compaction strategies for efficient performance. - Tuning garbage collection (GC), JVM heap settings, and read/write performance to enhance system efficiency. - Analyzing slow queries using Cassandra Query Language (CQL) tracing to identify and address performance bottlenecks. - Implementing authentication (LDAP, Kerberos) and role-based access control (RBAC) for secure access to Cassandra. - Securing Cassandra deployments with TLS/SSL encryption and firewall rules to ensure data protection. - Ensuring compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS standards for data security. - Developing and managing backup and restore strategies using nodetool snapshots for data recovery. - Testing disaster recovery and failover strategies regularly to maintain system resilience. - Automating Cassandra administration tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible for efficient operations. - Setting up monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, DataStax OpsCenter) and implementing alerting for node failures and performance metrics. - Identifying and resolving replication lag, tombstone accumulation, and query timeouts to optimize system performance. - Collaborating with DevOps and application teams to troubleshoot performance issues and ensure system reliability. - Maintaining detailed documentation of troubleshooting procedures for reference. - Monitoring storage, memory, and CPU usage to plan for capacity scaling and optimize replication strategies for read/write scalability. - Implementing multi-datacenter replication for disaster recovery and load balancing. Qualifications Required: - Strong experience with Apache Cassandra (Open Source, DataStax, ScyllaDB). - Deep understanding of Cassandra architecture, partitions, replication, and consistency levels. - Proficiency in CQL (Cassandra Query Language) and data modeling. - Hands-on experience with Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS). - Familiarity with Cassandra monitoring tools (DataStax OpsCenter, Prometheus, Grafana). - Experience with cloud-managed Cassandra services (AWS Keyspaces, Azure CosmosDB, Google Cloud Bigtable). Please note that this is a full-time position requiring at least 6 years of experience in Apache Cassandra. The work location is in person.,
