Preferred candidate profile

Minimum 4+ years of experience in Cassandra Core DBA Role and Responsibilities

• Good Knowledge of Cassandra Internals with understanding of Read Path, Write Path, Replication Strategy, Consistency, Vnodes, Snitch, Repair, Compaction, DB Operations like Node addition, Deletion, Upgrade, System Performance Tuning, Java Performance Tuning, Data Modelling, DB Integration.
• Knowledge on implications of various OS level settings on Cassandra, Understanding of system performance
• Collect, understand and analyse system metrics using various tools like vmstat, iostat,dmstat,top,sar,dstat
• Good understanding of JAVA performance. Understanding of Garbage Collection in JAVA.
• Collect, understand and analyse JMX metrics exposed by Cassandra and Understand version specific features of Cassandra, Able to comment of best Cassandra practices.
• Understand various log levels in Cassandra to troubleshoot issues, Understand Cassandra logs, Understanding of various compaction strategy and uses
• Good experience open source monitoring tool like Prometheus, grafana, splunk, Nagios
• Having good knowledge of advance utility like sjk, jconsole, jvisualvm to monitor cassandra
• Good understanding of various Cassandra drivers like
• Datastax Cassandra Drivers, Kundera etc.
• Enabling security in Cassandra, Experience in scripting and any programming language is added advantage
• Make critical decisions on Database operations to optimise DB performance and meet client requirements
• Responsible for ensuring client SLA is met all the time
• Implement automation technologies across Cassandra cluster nodes.
