About the Naan Mudhalvan Scheme:
Naan Mudhalvan is a flagship initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu aimed at making students "industry-ready" by providing them with skill development training, career guidance, and placement opportunities. The scheme focuses on bridging the gap between academia and industry, empowering the youth of Tamil Nadu to become leaders in their chosen fields.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Career Counselor to be the driving force behind the Naan Mudhalvan scheme at our institution. You will be responsible for guiding students towards successful career paths by providing counseling, facilitating skill development programs, and connecting them with employment opportunities. This role is ideal for someone passionate about shaping the future of young students and contributing to the state's mission of creating a highly skilled workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Counseling & Guidance:
  • Conduct one-on-one and group counseling sessions for students to understand their career aspirations, strengths, and areas for development.
  • Administer and interpret interest and aptitude assessments to help students make informed decisions about their career choices.
  • Guide students in selecting appropriate skill development courses and certification programs offered under the Naan Mudhalvan scheme.
  • Program Implementation & Coordination:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Naan Mudhalvan scheme within the institution.
  • Coordinate with the Naan Mudhalvan state portal team for student registration, course allocation, and certification.
  • Organize and promote various training programs, workshops, and webinars (soft skills, technical skills, interview preparation) mandated by the scheme.
  • Maintain and update student data related to course enrollment, completion, and placement on the designated portal.
  • Industry Interface & Placement Support:
  • Build and maintain relationships with local and national industries to understand job market trends and requirements.
  • Facilitate internship and placement opportunities for students by coordinating with the placement cell and companies.
  • Provide rigorous placement training, including resume building, mock interviews, and group discussion sessions.
  • Organize career fairs, industry talks, and campus recruitment drives in alignment with the scheme's objectives.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Nodal Officer and scheme authorities as required.
  • Track and report on key metrics such as student participation, course completion rates, certification counts, and placement statistics.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all student interactions and counseling sessions.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Educational Qualification: A Master’s Degree in Psychology / Counseling Psychology / Social Work (MSW) / Human Resources (HR) / Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized university.
  • or
  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in career counseling, training, or student placement.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent command of both Tamil and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
  • Experience: Prior experience in counseling, coaching, or mentoring students in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of the Tamil Nadu job market and industry trends.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
  • Empathy and a genuine passion for helping students.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, Internet) and ability to work on government/online portals.
  • Ability to conduct engaging workshops and presentations for large groups.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working on government schemes or projects, particularly in the education or skill development sector.
  • Knowledge of the various courses and partners associated with the Naan Mudhalvan scheme.
  • Existing connections with industries and companies in the region.
