BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

The Business Development Manager (BDM) - Defence will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in the defence industry. This role involves building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, defence contractors, and military organizations, to drive growth and expand market share for the company. The BDM will be expected to leverage their knowledge of the defence market, strategic insights, and negotiation skills to secure new contracts, partnerships, and projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify and build relationships with key decision-makers in defence ministries, military organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients, partners, and industry influencers in the defence sector
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify business opportunities, trends, and potential areas for expansion within the defence sector
  • Stay up-to-date with government defence budgets, procurement processes, and upcoming tenders and contracts.
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy to achieve sales and YOY growth targets of the company.
  • Create tailored business proposals and presentations for potential clients and partners.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and tenders.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., technical, legal, finance) to ensure proposals are competitive, comprehensive, and aligned with client requirements.
  • Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and deliverables with clients and partners to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Taking multiple quotations from OEMs and creating cost comparison statements for finalizing Suppliers.
  • Submitting of Budgetary Quotes for materials or services to departments.
  • Close deals, secure contracts, and ensure smooth handover to delivery and operations teams
  • Undertaking Site visit to understand the scope of work in depth before bidding.
  • Preparing weekly work progress reports for review.
  • Drafting Official correspondences to OEM’s/ Vendors & Government Departments
  • Monitor team performance, coach, train, conduct reviews

Qualifications

  • Business Development, Sales, and Customer Relationship Management skills
  • Experience in the defence sector or related industries
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, MBA or relevant field
  • Knowledge of Tendering Management & Costing would be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 15-20 years in the Indian Navy is required (MCPO/CPO from Tech Dept/ Artificer/Mech/ Logistics preferred)
