Biomedical Engineer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and calibrate biomedical equipment and systems. Conduct preventive maintenance and repair of critical and non-critical medical devices, ensuring minimal downtime. Maintain accurate inventory and service records for all biomedical equipment. Liaise with medical staff to understand equipment functionality and resolve issues efficiently. Perform safety and performance checks in line with hospital protocols and regulatory guidelines (NABH, ISO, etc.). Assist in the procurement process by evaluating new technologies, vendors, and service contracts. Ensure all biomedical systems comply with hospital infection control, safety standards, and government regulations. Train healthcare professionals and support staff on equipment usage and troubleshooting. Coordinate with external service providers for warranty and post-warranty support. Support the development and implementation of biomedical engineering SOPs and documentation systems. Participate in hospital audits and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications: Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent. 2–5 years of hands-on experience in a hospital or clinical environment preferred. In-depth knowledge of diagnostic, therapeutic, and life-support equipment (e.g., ventilators, infusion pumps, ECG, dialysis machines). Familiarity with compliance requirements including NABH, AERB, and ISO standards.
