Primary Title:

Business Development Manager - Solar Energy

About The Opportunity

A growth-focused role in the Renewable Energy sector, focused on commercial and industrial (C&I), rooftop, and utility-scale solar project development across India. This on-site position drives end-to-end business development lead generation, channel expansion, commercial negotiation, and project handover to scale MWs and accelerate deployment of solar assets.Role & Responsibilities
  • Prospect and convert high-value C&I, rooftop, and ground-mount solar opportunities across assigned territories; own the full sales cycle from lead to LOI/contract.
  • Lead commercial negotiations including PPA structuring, EPC terms, pricing models, and payment milestones to close deals with customers and channel partners.
  • Prepare and submit competitive bids and tenders; coordinate technical, commercial, and legal inputs to win projects.
  • Build and manage relationships with channel partners, EPC contractors, consultants, and key customer stakeholders to scale pipeline and repeat business.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project finance, and operations teams to validate feasibility, resolve commercial/technical blockers, and ensure smooth project handover.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasting and CRM records; generate regular pipeline and performance reports for leadership.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, or related discipline.
  • Proven solar business development experience with a track record of closing rooftop and/or utility-scale projects in India.
  • Strong commercial capabilities: PPA structuring, pricing models, and EPC contract negotiation.
  • Experience managing bids, tenders, and RFP responses for solar projects.
  • Demonstrable network with C&I customers, real estate owners, or utility procurement teams.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across assigned territories (onsite role).

Preferred

  • MBA or advanced business/energy qualification.
  • Experience with project finance models, L1/L2 technical feasibility assessments, or experience working with MNRE/state incentive programs.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (Salesforce, Zoho) and advanced Excel-based commercial modelling.
