Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer - Battery Systems Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design robust, lightweight, and efficient mechanical systems for lithium battery packs used in UAVs, defence, and aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities Design & Development

Design mechanical enclosures and structural components & bus-bars for battery packs Develop lightweight, high-strength packaging solutions for aerospace applications Create cooling systems and thermal management solutions Design vibration-resistant and shock-proof battery housings Develop modular battery pack architectures for scalable applications

Application-Specific Engineering

Design flight-ready battery systems for UAVs and drones Develop ruggedized enclosures for defence and military applications Create space-qualified battery pack designs for aerospace Optimize weight-to-energy ratios for flight applications Design quick-disconnect and swappable battery systems

Analysis & Simulation

Perform structural analysis using FEA tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation) Conduct thermal analysis and cooling system optimization Analyze vibration, shock, and environmental stress factors Optimize designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness Validate designs through prototyping and testing

Manufacturing Support

Develop manufacturing processes and assembly procedures Create detailed technical drawings and specifications Support supplier selection and component qualification Conduct design reviews and manufacturing feasibility studies Implement design for manufacturing (DFM) principles

Required Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelors/Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field 3-6 years of experience in mechanical design for battery systems or related products Mandatory experience in UAV, Defence, and/or Aerospace segments

Technical Skills

Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation) Knowledge of thermal analysis and cooling system design Understanding of materials science, especially for aerospace applications Experience with lightweight materials (aluminum, carbon fiber, composites) Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, injection molding)

Industry Knowledge

Familiarity with aerospace/defence design standards (AS9100, MIL-STD) Understanding of environmental testing requirements (vibration, shock, temperature) Knowledge of safety requirements for lithium battery systems Experience with qualification processes for critical applications

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with additive manufacturing and 3D printing Knowledge of composite materials and advanced manufacturing techniques Certification in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Experience with project management in aerospace/defence projects Understanding of export control regulations (ITAR, EAR)
