Backend Engineer

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend services for an MLOps platform running on AWS. The ideal candidate has strong Python expertise, experience with cloud-native systems, and a solid understanding of asynchronous programming and production operations. Experience 5+ years of professional experience in backend web development using Python Proven experience building and operating production-grade backend systems Experience working in cloud-based environments, preferably AWS Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python Build APIs using frameworks such as Flask, Django, or FastAPI Implement and manage asynchronous and concurrent processing using AsyncIO Deploy and operate services using WSGI/ASGI servers (Gunicorn, Uvicorn) Collaborate with ML and platform teams to support MLOps workflows Write unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure system reliability Participate in CI/CD pipelines and release automation Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production systems Participate in on-call rotations and incident response Work effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams Mandatory Skills Strong proficiency in Python Experience with Flask / Django / FastAPI Experience with Gunicorn, Uvicorn, or similar servers Solid understanding of asynchronous & concurrent programming Experience with unit and functional testing frameworks Experience with at least one public cloud platform (AWS preferred) Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and practices Strong communication and collaboration skills Good-to-Have Skills Experience with Apache Kafka and Python Kafka clients Experience with MLOps platforms (AWS SageMaker, Kubeflow, MLflow) Experience with Big Data frameworks, especially Apache Spark Experience with container orchestration (AWS ECS, AWS EKS) Experience with DevOps & IaC tools (Terraform, Jenkins) Knowledge of Python packaging & distribution (Wheel, PEX, Conda) Skills Python, AWS, Backend Development, Asynchronous Programming, CI/CD, MLOps, Cloud Platforms, Pipelines
