Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Backend Developer - ServiceNow to join our dynamic and distributed team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in ServiceNow custom application development and extensive hands-on experience with backend scripting to build robust and scalable solutions. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing critical server-side logic and integrations, playing a key role in extending the capabilities of the ServiceNow platform to meet complex business requirements. A collaborative mindset and proven proficiency in version control using GitHub are essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities Custom Application Development : Design, develop, and implement custom applications and modules on the ServiceNow platform, aligning with architectural best practices and client needs. Translate complex business requirements into technical solutions within the ServiceNow environment. Backend Scripting & Logic Implementation Develop robust and efficient server-side logic and functionalities using JavaScript, Glide APIs, Script Includes, and Business Rules. Ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability of backend components. Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code. Integration Development Design and implement integrations with external systems using various methods (e.g., REST, SOAP, Integration Hub), ensuring seamless data flow and process automation. Collaboration & Requirements Translation Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts, Frontend Developers, Architects, and Quality Assurance teams, to understand requirements and deliver comprehensive backend solutions. Actively participate in design discussions, code reviews, and sprint planning. Version Control & Development Practices Utilize GitHub extensively for version control, including managing branching strategies, creating and reviewing Pull Requests, and ensuring code quality through collaborative development. Adhere to best practices for code management, documentation, and development methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum). Core Technical Skills Required ServiceNow Platform Expertise : Strong proficiency in ServiceNow Custom Application Development. Deep understanding of ServiceNow platform capabilities, data model, and security concepts. Backend Scripting (Mandatory & Extensive) Expertise in JavaScript for server-side scripting on ServiceNow. Extensive experience with Glide APIs (GlideRecord, GlideSystem, GlideForm, etc.). Proven ability to design and implement complex logic using Script Includes. In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Business Rules. Version Control Solid experience with GitHub for version control, including branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative code reviews. Problem Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex technical challenges. Nice-to-Have Skills Experience with other ServiceNow modules (ITSM, ITBM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM). Familiarity with other scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation. Experience with ServiceNow integrations (Integration Hub, REST/SOAP integrations). Understanding of ServiceNow best practices for performance and scalability. ServiceNow certifications (e.g., Certified Application Developer, Certified System Administrator).
