Job Description

Description

As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling backend services that power our interoperable healthcare platform. You will contribute to architectural decisions, improve system performance, and play a key role in mentoring engineers while working closely with the founder and product stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
Build and optimize RESTful and GraphQL APIs
Design and manage relational data models using PostgreSQL and MySQL
Implement database access layers using Prisma or TypeORM
Ensure high standards of security, scalability, and performance
Participate in sprint planning, development, and delivery using Agile methodologies
Review code and enforce engineering best practices
Monitor and optimize API performance and backend workflows
Debug production issues and improve system reliability
Work closely with QA to deliver stable, high-quality releases
Guide and mentor junior engineers through technical leadership

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
4+ years of backend development experience using Node.js and TypeScript
Strong expertise in TypeScript for large-scale backend applications
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL
Experience working with ORMs such as Prisma or TypeORM
Solid understanding of backend architecture and API design
Familiarity with Agile / Scrum development practices
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proactive and self-driven mindset

Nice To Have

Exposure to additional backend languages or frameworks
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Contributions to open-source backend project
