AutoCAD Drafter

• Prepare detailed 2D production/shop drawings: Create comprehensive technical layouts for interior elements, especially custom furniture, cabinets, wardrobes, and TV units.
• Generate accurate cutting lists (Cut Lists): Develop precise material lists and cutting dimensions for all components (panels, drawers, hardware, etc.) to optimize material usage (nesting) and facilitate the manufacturing process.
• Utilize specialized software: Be proficient in design and production software such as PolyBoard, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Vcarve, or CutList Plus to create designs, extract cutting lists, and generate CNC files.
• Material and Quantity Take-offs (BOQ/BOM): Create Bills of Materials (BOM) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for production and site requirements, ensuring accuracy in ordering and minimizing waste.
• Coordinate with fabricators and vendors: Work closely with the production team, carpenters, and material suppliers to ensure designs can be manufactured accurately and meet project timelines and budgets.
• Develop design concepts: Assist in creating visually appealing design concepts for architectural and interior projects, sometimes involving 3D modeling and rendering.
• Site coordination and problem-solving: Visit job sites to take accurate measurements, analyze space availability, and resolve complex design or installation issues that arise during project execution.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in relevant CAD and design software is a must (e.g., AutoCAD, PolyBoard, SketchUp).
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of cutting lists and technical drawings to prevent errors in production.
• Spatial Awareness: Strong spatial ability and an understanding of space planning principles.
• Material Knowledge: Knowledge of various interior materials, finishes, hardware, and construction methods, including the use of poly board material and other sheet goods.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information effectively to production teams, contractors, and clients.
• Organizational Skills: Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
