About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Patent Associate/Senior Associate having expertise in patent drafting and prosecution for software and AI-related inventions. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background and proven experience in drafting high-quality patent applications and managing prosecution processes before the USPTO and EPO. This role requires close collaboration with inventors, attorneys, and cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality of work and effective protection of intellectual property rights.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct inventor interviews to understand the technical aspects of software and AI-related inventions.

Draft patent applications, including claims, specifications, and drawings, in compliance with US patent laws/USPTO standards and/or EPO guidelines.

Manage end-to-end drafting and prosecution assignments, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to deadlines.

Prepare responses to office actions, analyze examiner objections, and develop effective prosecution strategies.

Review and provide feedback on drafts prepared by other team members to maintain quality and consistency.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, scientists, and legal counsel, to develop comprehensive patent drafting strategies and/or processes.

Stay updated on developments in US patent laws, prosecution trends, and emerging technologies in software and AI.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related technical field.

Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution, with a focus on software, AI, and machine learning technologies.

Strong knowledge of US patent laws, USPTO practices, and prosecution procedures.

Proven ability to draft high-quality claims and specifications independently.

Hands-on experience in handling office actions and responding effectively to examiner rejections.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with inventors, attorneys, and other stakeholders.

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
