Know more about us :https://www.1mg.com/aboutUs Brief about the Team: The Associate Technical Architect for Backend Engineering will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Tata 1mg's Search platform. This individual will be responsible for designing and architecting large-scale, distributed search systems, ensuring high performance and scalability. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, drive key technical OKRs, and implement advanced search technologies such as Elasticsearch and Learning-to-Rank (LTR) models. Additionally, they will champion best practices, mentor engineers, and contribute to building a culture of excellence and innovation. What You Will Do Collaborate with product managers & data scientists to help define technical direction and OKRs for the Search platform team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deliver a world-class end-to-end Search experience. Champion best practices and innovative techniques for scalability, reliability, and performance optimizations Drive key OKRs and deliver end-to-end business outcomes for critical projects in Search Implement and optimize Learning-to-Rank (LTR ) models, query understanding, relevance tuning, and indexing strategies for optimal search performance. Utilize A/B testing to evaluate and optimize search & business metrics, and use data-driven insights to optimize and refine search performance and relevance continuously. Own engineering and operational excellence for the health of our Search system, proactively driving opportunities for continuous improvements and own key operational metrics. Help hire and mentor engineers to build an open, innovative, and operationally responsible culture. What Are We Looking For 7-10 years overall, with 5+ years in designing and architecting large-scale Search systems for distributed and data-intensive environments. Proficiency in search technologies like Elasticsearch, Apache Solr, Vector Search, or similar; deep knowledge of search algorithms, relevance tuning, ranking, query classification, indexing, and ML integration. Proven skills in optimizing query performance, implementing LTR, and triaging search issues efficiently. Strong fluency in modern object-oriented programming languages (Python, Java, Go) and experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API development. Focus on business outcomes with a very high bar for output quality, but recognize the business benefit of 'ship small, ship fast and iterate’ vs ‘building for perfection’ Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams (product managers, data scientists, front-end engineers) to deliver effective, scalable solutions. Ability to manage multiple projects, adapt quickly, and innovate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Why Join Us?
