Associate Professor


Key Responsibilities


Teaching & Clinical Training

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Optometry and Vision Sciences (Refraction, Contact Lens, Low Vision Aids, Ocular Diseases, Pediatric Optometry, Clinical Optometry, etc.).
  • Conduct laboratory sessions, clinical demonstrations, and hospital-based training.
  • Mentor students in academic, clinical, and research competencies.
  • Supervise internships, community outreach, and skill development programs.
  • Develop innovative pedagogy, simulation-based training, and e-learning resources.

Research & Innovation

  • Undertake independent and collaborative research in Optometry, Vision Science, Eye Health, and allied areas.
  • Publish in peer-reviewed, indexed journals (Scopus/SCI/UGC-Care).
  • Present at national/international conferences and workshops.
  • Secure external funding for research projects and innovation in eye care.
  • Guide M.Optom and Ph.D. research scholars.

Institutional & Professional Engagement

  • Participate in curriculum development, academic planning, and accreditation processes (NAAC, NBA, NIRF, international rankings).
  • Collaborate with eye hospitals, NGOs, and industry partners for clinical training and community vision care programs.
  • Organize workshops, CME programs, and continuing education for optometry professionals.
  • Contribute to departmental leadership, admissions, and institutional development initiatives.


Eligibility Criteria


Associate Professor (Optometry)

  • Qualification:

    Master’s in Optometry (M.Optom) with Ph.D. in Optometry/Vision Science/related discipline.
  • Experience:

    Minimum

    8 years of teaching/clinical/research experience

    , with at least

    3 years as Assistant Professor

    .
  • Research Profile:

    At least

    5–8 quality publications

    in indexed journals; experience in guiding PG/Ph.D. students desirable.

Professor (Optometry)

  • Qualification:

    Master’s in Optometry (M.Optom) with Ph.D. in Optometry/Vision Science/related discipline.
  • Experience:

    Minimum

    10 years of teaching/clinical/research experience

    , of which

    5 years should be at the level of Associate Professor

    .
  • Research Profile:

    At least

    10–15 publications

    in reputed indexed journals, with evidence of funded research projects/consultancy and guidance of doctoral students.
