Assistant Professor - Port & Shipping Management

Position:

• Deliver specialized lectures, case studies, and practical sessions on subjects critical to the maritime industry.

• Specialized Subjects include (but are not limited to):

  Port Operations and Terminal Management, International Shipping Operations, Maritime Law and Insurance, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Chartering Practices, and Maritime Economics.
• Develop, review, and continuously update the curriculum and course content in alignment with the dynamic global maritime trade environment and regulatory frameworks.
• Use tools and simulations to provide practical exposure to

  port planning, vessel traffic management

  , and cargo handling.
• Guide and supervise MBA student projects, field studies, and dissertations relevant to the port and shipping sector.

2. Research and Publication

• Conduct and publish high-impact research in recognized national and international

  peer-reviewed journals

  (e.g., UGC-CARE, Scopus, Web of Science) focusing on areas like Green Shipping, Port Digitalization, and Maritime Supply Chain Resilience.
• Pursue and secure external research grants and consultancy assignments from port authorities or maritime organizations.
• Mentor junior faculty and students in developing research proposals and publications.

3. Institutional & Industry Engagement

• Establish and foster strong industrial relationships

  with major ports (Major and Non-Major), shipping lines (e.g., Maersk, MSC), freight forwarders, and relevant Government bodies (e.g., DG Shipping, IMU).
• Organize industrial visits to ports and terminals, guest lectures by industry veterans, and internship opportunities for students.
• Actively participate in administrative duties, institutional accreditation (NBA/NAAC), and student placement activities.

Eligibility Criteria (As per AICTE Regulations for Management)

• Bachelor's Degree

  in any discipline.

  AND

• Master's Degree

  in

  Business Administration (MBA)

  /

  PGDM

  / M.Com. / C.A. / ICWA, or an equivalent post-graduate degree in a relevant management discipline, with

  First Class

  or equivalent (minimum 60% if class/division is not awarded) at the Master's level.
• Note: The Master's Degree specialization must be in

  Port & Shipping Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, or Maritime Management

  from a recognized institution.

2. Professional Experience

• Minimum of

  two (2) years of professional experience

  after acquiring the degree of Master's degree.
• Note: Professional experience can be in teaching, research, industry, or profession.

  Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience

  in a Port Authority, Shipping Line, Terminal Operator, or a Maritime Logistics consulting firm

3. Ph.D. / NET (Highly Desirable)

• Ph.D. Degree

  in Port Management, Maritime Logistics, or a relevant management field is

  highly desirable

  and is necessary for long-term career growth.

• NET/SET

  qualification is desirable, especially for candidates without a Ph.D.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• In-depth knowledge of

  international maritime conventions (IMO, UNCTAD)

  and customs procedures.
• Familiarity with

  Port Management Information Systems (PMIS)

  and terminal operating systems.
• Strong professional network within the Indian and global maritime sector.
• Excellent communication, mentorship, and pedagogical skills suitable for an MBA program.
