Assistant Professor - Statistics / Mathematics

Position:

• Conduct rigorous and conceptual lectures, tutorials, and lab sessions for MBA students in compulsory and elective courses related to quantitative methods.

• Core Subjects include (but are not limited to):

  Business Statistics, Operations Research, Quantitative Techniques for Management, Optimization Models, Business Mathematics, and Analytical Modeling.
• Develop, update, and review course materials, focusing on the practical application of statistical and mathematical concepts to real-world business problems.
• Utilize software packages like

  SPSS, R, Python, or Excel Solver

  to teach statistical analysis and modeling.
• Guide and mentor students on project work and dissertations that involve statistical analysis.

2. Research and Innovation

• Engage actively in high-quality research, focusing on the intersection of quantitative methods, operations research, and various management functions (Finance, Marketing, Operations).
• Publish research papers in

  reputed refereed journals

  (UGC-CARE/Scopus/Web of Science).
• Contribute to consultancy projects by providing expertise in data analysis and modeling.

3. Institutional & Administrative Contribution

• Participate in departmental and institutional activities, including curriculum development, examination duties, and committee work.
• Assist in the organization of workshops and seminars on quantitative methods and data analysis for students and faculty.
• Participate in

  Faculty Development Programs (FDPs)

  to enhance teaching and research skills.

Eligibility Criteria (As per AICTE Regulations for Management)

• Bachelor's Degree

  in any discipline.

  AND

• Master's Degree

  in

  Business Administration (MBA)

  /

  PGDM

  / M.Com. / C.A. / ICWA, or an equivalent post-graduate degree in a relevant management discipline, with

  First Class

  or equivalent (minimum 60% if class/division is not awarded) at the Master's level.
• Note: Candidates with a

  Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics (with strong quantitative background), Operations Research, or an M.Tech./M.Sc. in Data Science/Analytics

  who also meet the management teaching experience requirement may be considered, provided they have a strong focus on business applications. The MBA is the preferred path as per AICTE, but exceptions for technical/quantitative roles are often made with a compelling academic record.

2. Professional Experience

• Minimum of

  two (2) years of professional experience

  after acquiring the degree of Master's degree.
• Note: Professional experience can be in teaching, research, industry, or profession. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching quantitative subjects in a B-School or working as an analyst/statistician in an industry setting.

3. Ph.D. / NET (Highly Desirable)

• Ph.D. Degree

  in a relevant quantitative discipline (Statistics, Operations Research, or Management with a Quantitative focus) is

  highly desirable

  .

• NET/SET

  qualification is desirable, especially for candidates without a Ph.D.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Deep conceptual clarity in

  Inferential Statistics, Probability, Calculus, and Linear Algebra

  as applied to business.
• Proficiency in statistical software packages (e.g.,

  SPSS, R, Minitab

  ).
• Ability to translate complex quantitative concepts into accessible, business-relevant applications.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and classroom management skills.
