Position Overview

The IT Network Operator is responsible for monitoring, managing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. The role ensures smooth network operations, troubleshooting issues, and supporting users with connectivity and hardware-related problems.

Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Monitoring & Maintenance

• Monitor network systems, servers, and connectivity in real-time.
• Ensure uptime and performance of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Perform routine checks on network devices and troubleshoot issues promptly.

Technical Support

• Provide first-level support for network, hardware, and software problems.
• Handle user complaints regarding internet, system slowness, or connectivity.
• Install, configure, and maintain PCs, printers, and basic IT equipment.

Troubleshooting

• Diagnose network failures and coordinate with senior engineers or vendors for resolution.
• Resolve issues related to IP configuration, cabling, and basic server access.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain logs of system downtime, issues, and resolutions.
• Update network diagrams and asset records.
• Prepare daily/weekly reports related to network status.

Security & Compliance

• Monitor antivirus status and ensure systems are updated.
• Support firewall and security policy implementation.
• Report suspicious network activity to senior IT staff.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Understanding of network devices (router, switch, firewall).
• Familiarity with tools like ping, trace route, and remote-access utilities.
• Experience with IT support or NOC is an added advantage.
