Main Purpose Of The Job:

The Assistant Manager in the Purchase Department is responsible for overseeing and managing the procurement process to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and supplies required for the cable and conductor industry. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the quality and compliance of purchased goods.

Key Accountabilities:

Manage the procurement process for timely and cost-effective material acquisition.

Maintain optimal inventory levels to support continuous production.

Negotiate supplier contracts for competitive pricing and favorable terms.

Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.

Monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Implement cost-saving strategies and initiatives.

Prepare and manage the procurement budget effectively.

Maintain accurate records and documentation for all procurement activities.

Key activities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance and manage relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess.
  • Coordinate with production and logistics teams to align procurement with operational needs.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Analyze market trends and price fluctuations to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and strategies to optimize procurement expenditures.
  • Prepare and manage the departmental budget for procurement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities and performance.

Experience & qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in procurement or purchasing within the cable and conductor industry.

Proven experience in supplier negotiation, contract management, and inventory control.

Special skills:

Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
