Position Overview:

The Assistant Manager – Indirect Tax will be responsible for managing GST compliance, advisory, audits, and litigation matters. The role involves ensuring accurate and timely filing, providing tax advisory to internal stakeholders, and supporting in strategic tax planning to optimize indirect tax efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all GST returns (GSTR-1, 3B, 9, 9C, etc.).
  • Reconcile GST input tax credit with books of accounts and vendor data.
  • Handle e-way bill and e-invoicing compliance requirements.
  • Manage GST registrations, amendments, and cancellation procedures.

Advisory & Planning

  • Advise business units on GST implications for transactions, contracts, and pricing.
  • Support in structuring transactions to achieve tax efficiency and compliance.
  • Keep abreast of indirect tax law updates and assess their business impact.

Audits & Assessments

  • Liaise with tax authorities for audits, assessments, and inquiries.
  • Prepare documentation and representations for departmental proceedings.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and legal advisors as required.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  • Review and strengthen internal controls over indirect tax processes.
  • Implement automation and digital solutions for tax compliance.
  • Train business and finance teams on indirect tax matters.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:

    Chartered Accountant (CA) qualified.
  • Experience:

    1–6 years of post-qualification experience in indirect taxation (preferably GST).
  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of GST law, rules, and procedures.
    • Experience in handling GST audits, reconciliations, and return filings.
    • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP/Tally/Oracle) and GST compliance tools.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and lead a small team.
