Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Assistant Manager - Area Sales will be responsible for driving credit card sales through the bank branch network in the Kolkata Circle. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, improving productivity, managing large field sales teams, ensuring compliant sourcing, and strengthening relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:Sales & Business Growth

  • Drive credit card sales across branches in the Kolkata Circle.
  • Manage sales budgets, set targets, and ensure achievement of monthly and annual goals.
  • Increase approval rates through right sourcing and adherence to credit norms.
  • Develop and execute product and sales strategies to enhance market penetration.

Team Management & Productivity

  • Manage, coach, and develop a large sales team including Unit Managers, Team Managers, and Sales Executives.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, evaluations, and feedback sessions.
  • Actively manage underperformers through structured Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
  • Ensure optimal productivity while managing the cost of acquisition.

Training & Coaching

  • Train and mentor direct reports to consistently achieve and exceed production goals.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and performance support to field sales managers.
  • Identify skill gaps and conduct regular sales and product training sessions.

Branch & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage credit card sales across a large network of branches.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with Branch Managers, Regional Managers, and General Managers.
  • Act as a single point of contact for branches for day-to-day operational issues.
  • Coordinate effectively with officials to ensure smooth sales operations.

Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliant sourcing processes in line with Card and regulatory guidelines.
  • Resolve customer complaints and operational challenges promptly.
  • Conduct frequent branch visits to review sales performance, pricing, and customer engagement.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBA (Marketing / Sales / Finance preferred).
  • 2-3 years of experience in sales and marketing.
  • Proven team handling and people management experience.
  • Experience in banking, credit cards, or financial services preferred.

  • Strong business awareness of the credit cards industry.
  • Excellent planning, negotiation, and execution skills.
