Assistant Manager Catalog Operations

Role Summary

A detail-oriented and proactive professional responsible for the end-to-end e-commerce catalog lifecycle, including catalogue management, SKU management, online listing, vendor coordination, customer-service interface, and team supervisionfocused on accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Catalog & SKU Management
  • Create, update, and maintain product listings across marketplaces, websites, and CMS.
  • Maintain SKU hygiene: taxonomy, attributes, and metadata.
  • Execute bulk uploads via Excel/CSV and manage flat-file workflows.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure catalog accuracy and completeness.
  • Online Listing & Content Optimization
  • Create and optimize titles, descriptions, specs, images, keywords, etc., as per platform guidelines.
  • Manage A+ / Enhanced Content with content/design teams.
  • Ensure SEO-friendly keywords and metadata to improve visibility and conversions.
  • Vendor Management & Coordination
  • Work with vendors/suppliers to collect, validate, and update product data.
  • Coordinate with merchandising, logistics, content, and warehouse teams to keep catalog and inventory aligned.
  • Team Management & Process Ownership
  • Lead catalog executives/data associates: allocate work, track performance, ensure quality, and train team members.
  • Define SOPs, naming conventions, taxonomy rules, QC processes, and update workflows.
  • Use Excel/CMS dashboards to track listing health, errors, and turnaround time, and drive process improvements.
  • Customer Service Interface
  • Support customer service with catalog-related issues such as incorrect data, missing attributes, or misleading content.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on recurring issues (returns/complaints) and implement corrective actions.
  • CMS & System Management
  • Use CMS/PIM tools or marketplace dashboards for catalog maintenance and uploads.
  • Ensure system-level data integrity through periodic reconciliations across catalog, inventory, vendor, and ERP data.
  • Reporting & Analytics
  • Prepare MIS/reports on listing performance, catalog health, sync status, error logs, SLA adherence, and vendor delivery.
  • Provide insights for catalog expansion, listing optimization, content quality, and vendor onboarding improvements.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Commerce/E-commerce/Supply Chain/Marketing (preferred).
  • 56 years experience in e-commerce catalog management or online marketplace operations.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivots, validations, bulk data handling).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle large datasets.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Team management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to track KPIs and drive improvements.
  • Customer-service oriented with ability to resolve content-related customer issues.
