Role Summary
As Assistant Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting GSK s Legal Contracting Network function through effective stakeholder managementand operational excellence
You will negotiate, manage and oversee legal agreements on behalf of the Global External Legal Relations Team (GELRT) GELRT manages processes for engaging external counsel on behalf of GSK s internal legal counsel In this role, you will have primary responsibility for drafting and negotiating Framework Engagement Agreements, Accelerated Engagement Agreements, and Alternative Fee Arrangement Agreements, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with GSK s business objectives Additionally, you will leverage your expertise in Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools and platforms to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement This role requires strong negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to foster collaboration across stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
Legal Operations Management

Drive operational efficiency within the legal function by optimizing workflows, processes, and systems

Utilize expertise in multiple Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools and platforms to manage contracts effectively and automate workflows

Monitor legal spend and manage alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) to ensure cost-effective legal service delivery

Collaborate with external counsel and vendors to implement best practices in legal operations and service delivery
Stakeholder Management

Serve as a trusted partner to internal and external stakeholders, including business units, external law firms, and vendors

Proactively communicate and engage with stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and ensure alignment with GSK s legal and business priorities

Foster strong relationships to facilitate collaboration and drive successful outcomes in legal matters
Litigation Support

Support litigation efforts by coordinating with legal teams, external counsel, and stakeholders on case management and strategy

Assist in the preparation, review, and management of litigation materials, ensuring accuracy and completeness

Maintain accurate records and databases related to ongoing or potential litigation matters
Agreement Management

Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements with external counsel, including:

Framework Engagement Agreements

Accelerated Engagement Agreements

Alternative Fee Arrangement Agreements

Global Billing Guidelines

Ensure all agreements comply with GSK s policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards

Provide guidance to stakeholders on contractual matters, ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives
Process Improvement

Analyze existing processes within legal operations and identify areas for improvement

Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, reduce risks, and align with business objectives

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate streamlined workflows and leverage technology solutions
Negotiation

Demonstrate strong negotiation skills when working with external lawyers and vendors, ensuring favorable terms for GSK while maintaining strong professional relationships

Manage discussions and resolve conflicts in a manner that aligns with GSK s policies and objectives

Advance GELRT s core objective to reduce and control GSKs external legal spend while ensuring continued excellent legal representation from our law firms
Key Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent; a Master s degree (LLM) or relevant certifications (eg Bar qualification) is a plus

5 years of experience in corporate legal operations, litigation support, and/or contract management
-
Prior experience working in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is preferred
Technical Skills

Proficiency in multiple Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools and platforms, with the ability to optimize their usage for operational efficiency

Strong knowledge of legal agreements, including framework and fee arrangements

Familiarity with litigation processes and procedures
