Job Description

The AFO (Biologist) is responsible for field or on-site implementation of the project in association with the reporting manager and in line with the scientific and technical plan and all administrative and financial requirements of the Project Head.

Responsibilities

1.Undertake fishermen survey to collect historical data/sighting of Whale Shark distribution.

2.Collect rescue locations from fishers and create GIS based map of Whale shark distribution.

3.Collect/ assist in collecting water and sediment sample for benthic study

4.Execute and implement the scientific part of the project plan on site, ensuring project implementation and deliverables are on track

5.Develop relevant technical reports and donor reports under the project photographic documentation, submission of project reports, etc as per requirements

6.Assist the Division Head in archiving and database management, analysis, and reporting related to all the specific project

7.Draft scientific papers based on project findings for submission to peer-reviewe'd journals.

8.Prepare and present project outcomes at relevant conferences, workshops, and symposiums.

9.Ensure scientific or technical adherence to all needs of the project is met

10.Responsible for all field level governmental and partner liaison at appropriate levels and local public relation needs in consultation with the PH.

11.Responsible for acting as the on-site representative of WTI (at particular level) and to ensure that the image of WTI as a conservation action organization operating in the field is maintained at all times.

Essential Educational Qualification

Msc-Marine Biology/Fisheries science with SCUBA Certification

Ability to multi-task and ability to create and work in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment; Works we'll under the pressure of deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills- Ability to work we'll with others or independently
Initiative to problem solve
Responsibility to complete projects by a pre-determined deadline
Ability to communicate effectively and accurately in oral and written language
Accurate and detail-oriented.
