Assistant/ Field Officer (Biologist)

The Natural Heritage Campaign (NHC) division is the voice of conservation action in WTI. As the name suggests the division aspires to create a positive and measurable change in people’s perceptions of wildlife conservation and Natural Heritage in India. NHC bridges the gap between conservation action and community participation.

Role: The AFO (Biologist) is responsible for field or on-site implementation of the project in association with the reporting manager and in line with the scientific and technical plan and all administrative and financial requirements of the Project Head.

Responsibilities

1. Undertake fishermen survey to collect historical data/sighting of Whale Shark distribution.

2. Collect rescue locations from fishers and create GIS based map of Whale shark distribution.

3. Collect/ assist in collecting water and sediment sample for benthic study

4. Execute and implement the scientific part of the project plan on site, ensuring project implementation and deliverables are on track

5. Develop relevant technical reports and donor reports under the project photographic documentation, submission of project reports, etc. as per requirements

6. Assist the Division Head in archiving and database management, analysis, and reporting related to all the specific project

7. Draft scientific papers based on project findings for submission to peer-reviewed journals.

8. Prepare and present project outcomes at relevant conferences, workshops, and symposiums.

9. Ensure scientific or technical adherence to all needs of the project is met

10. Responsible for all field level governmental and partner liaison at appropriate levels and local public relation needs in consultation with the PH.

11. Responsible for acting as the on-site representative of WTI (at particular level) and to ensure that the image of WTI as a conservation action organization operating in the field is maintained at all times.

Essential Educational Qualification

• Msc-Marine Biology/Fisheries science with SCUBA Certification
