Job Title: Application Packaging & Deployment Engineer

Work location: Chennai, WFO

Responsibilities:

• Application Packaging:

• Create and maintain software installation packages in various formats (e.g., MSI, EXE, PKG, IPA, APPX, IntuneWin) for unattended deployment across Windows, macOS, and iOS devices.
• Analyze application dependencies, conflicts, and requirements to ensure seamless integration into the enterprise environment.
• Work with software vendors and internal stakeholders to maintain existing packages and integrate new applications based on business needs.

• Deployment and Administration:

• Administer and manage enterprise deployment tools such as Microsoft Intune, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Jamf Pro to distribute software and operating system updates.
• Design and implement deployment strategies for various environments (testing, staging, and production), managing device enrollment and inventory.
• Manage and execute patch management processes to ensure systems are secure and up-to-date, collaborating with security teams on compliance.

• Scripting and Automation:

• Develop and maintain scripts using languages like PowerShell, VBScript, or Batch to automate application packaging, installation, and deployment processes.
• Implement automation solutions to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance overall efficiency.

• Testing and Quality Assurance:

• Manually install and test packaged applications on designated test devices to verify installation behavior, functionality, and compatibility with different operating systems and existing software.
• Perform functional and user acceptance testing of packaged applications in controlled environments.

• Troubleshooting and Support:

• Act as a third-level escalation point to diagnose and resolve complex application packaging and deployment issues.
• Use log analysis tools (like ProcMon, Event Viewer) to identify and address installation failures, conflicts, or dependency problems.

• Documentation and Standards:

• Create and update detailed technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), packaging methodologies, and configuration guides.
• Ensure all platforms and systems conform to established enterprise and industry standards and security policies.
