Role Overview: As an Assistant Manager Legal/Manager Legal at PhonePe, you will play a crucial role in reviewing, negotiating, and managing complex contracts in the information technology space, particularly in the ecommerce and quick commerce sectors. Your responsibilities will include providing strategic legal advice to business stakeholders, staying updated on e-commerce laws and regulations, conducting legal research, and collaborating with various departments within the organization. Key Responsibilities: - Contract Management: - Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts related to e-commerce operations such as vendor agreements, marketplace agreements, logistics agreements, and software licensing agreements. - Advisory: - Provide legal advice to business stakeholders on products and services related to e-commerce operations, considering laws and regulations including FDI policy, consumer protection laws, data privacy regulations, and intellectual property rights. - Regulatory Updates: - Stay informed about changes in e-commerce laws and regulations, advising the business on potential impacts and necessary adjustments. - Training and Education: - Conduct training sessions for internal teams on legal and compliance matters relevant to e-commerce. - Cross-functional Collaboration: - Collaborate with departments like marketing, sales, product development, and operations to offer legal guidance and support. - Legal Research: - Perform legal research and analysis on specific e-commerce related issues. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree required; Master of Laws (LLM) preferred. - Minimum 7 years of experience focusing on e-commerce laws, regulations, and advisory. - Excellent drafting, negotiation, research, analytical, and communication skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. - Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferably within the e-commerce industry. - Familiarity with contemporary e-commerce/quick commerce business models in India is a plus.
