Job Description: 4+1 Axis VMC Programmer Cum Operator + CAD/3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled 4+1 Axis VMC Programmer Cum Operator with proficiency in CAD designing (SolidWorks and SolidCAM) and hands-on experience in 3D printing/additive manufacturing. The role involves advanced CNC programming/operation (specifically with 4+1 axis VMC), CAD/CAM for tooling and aerospace parts, and integrating additive manufacturing for jigs, fixtures, die moulds, and prototypes.
Key Responsibilities
Program and operate 4+1 axis VMC machines for high-precision manufacturing.
Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using SolidWorks and SolidCAM.
Design, manufacture, and integrate jigs and fixtures using both traditional and additive methods.
Create and prepare CAD models for 3D printing/additive manufacturing, ensuring correct technology/material selection for prototyping or production.
Select and apply suitable 3D printing processes (FDM, SLS, SLA, etc.) for various parts and toolings.
Combine subtractive (CNC) and additive manufacturing for optimal production of complex aerospace/tooling components.
Interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing documentation for aerospace and tooling standards.
Manage setup, calibration, and inspection of VMC (4+1 axis) and 3D printing equipment.
Solve production and process challenges for both machining and additive workflows.
Maintain all project documentation for traceability and compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience in programming and operating 4+1 axis VMCs (or indexed 5-axis/CNC with 4 dynamic axes and one positioning axis).
In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks and SolidCAM for CAD/CAM work.
Hands-on expertise in additive manufacturing/3D printing: machine setup, process selection, post-processing, integration with machined parts.
Strong background in designing jigs, fixtures, die moulds using both CNC and 3D printing.
Familiarity with aerospace industry materials, tolerances, and regulatory standards.
Ability to combine indexed positioning (4+1) with high-precision multi-side machining.
Solid understanding of sequential machining, fixture setup, and tool-path optimization for 4+1 axis systems.
Analytical problem-solving and high attention to quality and detail.
Desired Qualifications
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.
3–5 years of experience in 4+1 axis CNC/advanced VMC programming, operation, and additive manufacturing.
Direct experience with common 3D printing systems (e.g., Stratasys, EOS, Markforged, Ultimaker, etc.).
Experience manufacturing aerospace, die/mould, and high-precision tooling.
Quality control and inspection process proficiency.
