This internship is ideal for developers who want hands-on WordPress experience building themes, plugins and client-ready sites while learning professional dev workflows.
Role & Responsibilities

Develop, customise and maintain WordPress themes and plugins using PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript following best practices.
Build responsive, accessible front-ends and troubleshoot cross-browser issues to ensure consistent user experience across devices.
Integrate third-party tools and services (WooCommerce, payment gateways, REST APIs) and create AJAX-driven interactions where required.
Work with page-builders (Elementor/Gutenberg) to implement designs and convert mockups into production-ready pages.
Participate in code reviews, maintain Git branches, create pull requests and follow CI/staging release workflows for safe deployments.
Support site performance optimisation, basic SEO improvements, backups and security hardening tasks under mentor guidance.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

Hands-on experience building or customising WordPress sites (themes/plugins) — personal projects, coursework or freelance work accepted.
Solid knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (ES6 basics) with a good grasp of responsive design principles.
Familiarity with MySQL, WP database structure and basic WordPress functions/hooks/actions/filters.
Comfortable using Git for version control and working with staging/production environments.
Strong problem-solving attitude, attention to detail and eagerness to learn modern WordPress tooling (Gutenberg blocks, build tools).

Preferred

Experience with WooCommerce setup/customisation, REST API integrations or building custom Gutenberg blocks.
Familiarity with page builders (Elementor) and performance/SEO optimisation techniques.
Exposure to WP-CLI, Docker/local development environments and automated deployment pipelines.
