Role Overview

The Director – Control Tower will lead the centralized operations command centre responsible for real-time network visibility, service performance management, and end-to-end orchestration of supply chain operations across Shadow fax's logistics network. The role requires deep expertise in network planning, route optimization, and designing scalable logistics frameworks, with the ability to leverage data for decision-making and drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Control Tower Leadership & Governance

• Lead and manage the Control Tower team responsible for real-time monitoring of national operations.
  
• Build frameworks for proactive exception management and network issue resolution.
  
• Establish SOPs, governance models, and performance standards across multiple logistics verticals (Last Mile, D2C, Middle Mile, Hyperlocal).
  

2. Network Planning & Design

• Design scalable, cost-efficient logistics networks considering demand patterns, capacity, SLA commitments, and geographic constraints.
  
• Drive network simulations, route optimization, and load balancing strategies.
  
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to build automated planning tools and intelligent routing engines.
  

3. Operational Performance Management

• Monitor KPIs including SLA adherence, TAT, cost per shipment, hub productivity, and network reliability.
  
• Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions across hubs, routes, linehaul, and last-mile nodes.
  
• Enable predictive analytics for volume spikes, capacity forecasting, and resource planning.
  

4. Technology & Process Automation

• Partner with engineering to enhance Control Tower platforms, dashboards, and alerting systems.
  
• Implement automation, AI/ML-based decision models, and workflow tools to reduce manual interventions.
  
• Drive digitization initiatives that improve visibility across shippers, partners, riders, and customers.
  

5. Stakeholder & Partner Management

• Collaborate with business, operations, product, finance, and client teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  
• Manage third-party logistics partners and influence performance improvements.
  
• Lead cross-functional war-room situations during network outages, peak seasons, or major disruptions.
  

6. Strategic & Continuous Improvement

• Drive cost optimization, efficiency initiatives, and end-to-end process reengineering.
  
• Benchmark network performance with industry leaders and drive adoption of best practices.
  
• Lead long-term network expansion planning for future business growth.
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related fields; MBA preferred.
  
• 10+ years of experience in logistics network planning, network design, control tower operations, or large-scale supply chain management.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience in data tools (SQL, Excel, BI dashboards).
  
• Experience in route optimization, load planning, and logistics cost modelling.
  
• Ability to manage large, cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in tech-enabled logistics companies or high-volume e-commerce ecosystems.
  
• Understanding of AI/ML-driven routing, geospatial analytics, and control tower platforms.
  
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
