Welding Supervisor

Job Summary

The Welding Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all welding activities related to oil and gas equipment manufacturing. The role ensures that welding operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with approved welding procedures, quality standards, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily welding and fabrication activities on the shop floor.
  
• Ensure welding is performed as per approved

  WPS, PQR, and WPQ

  .
• Allocate jobs to welders based on skill level and job requirements.
  
• Monitor welding parameters, joint fit-up, and consumable usage.
  
• Ensure compliance with

  ASME, AWS, API, and client specifications

  .
• Coordinate with

  Quality, Production, and Planning

  departments.
• Ensure timely completion of welding activities as per production schedule.
  
• Conduct pre-welding and post-welding inspections.
  
• Ensure proper control, storage, and issue of welding consumables.
  
• Maintain welding records, logs, and daily progress reports.
  
• Support QA/QC during inspections, NDT, and audits.
  
• Identify welding defects and ensure corrective and preventive actions.
  
• Ensure adherence to safety rules, PPE usage, and safe welding practices.
  
• Train and guide welders to improve productivity and quality.
  
• Maintain discipline and proper housekeeping in the welding area.
  

Safety Responsibilities

• Enforce safety procedures related to welding, cutting, and gas handling.
  
• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and statutory norms.
  
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for welders.
  

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education:

  ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Welding Technology

• Experience:

  Minimum

  58 years

  in welding supervision within oil & gas or heavy fabrication industry

• Certifications:

• Welding Supervisor / Welding Inspector certification (preferred)
  
• Knowledge of ASME Section IX, API 650/1104, AWS D1.1
  

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW)
  
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols
  
• Leadership and manpower handling skills
  
• Good coordination and communication abilities
  
• Knowledge of NDT methods and acceptance criteria
  
• Focus on quality, safety, and productivity
