Washing Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Washing Manager to oversee and manage all washing operations in the shirt manufacturing unit. The role includes handling wet and dry processes, ensuring shade consistency, managing recipes and chemical usage, and delivering high-quality washed garments as per buyer standards. The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge of garment washing, chemicals, machinery, and process control.

Key Responsibilities

Washing Operations Management

• Plan, supervise, and execute daily washing operations for shirts (wet and dry processes).
• Ensure all washing activities follow the approved buyer wash standards and recipes.
• Monitor shrinkage, hand feel, shade variation, and garment appearance to meet quality requirements.
• Ensure timely washing and finishing to meet production deadlines.

Process & Recipe Control

• Develop and maintain accurate washing recipes based on buyer specifications and fabric behavior.
• Check chemical dosage and ensure proper handling of washing chemicals and auxiliaries.
• Conduct shade band approvals and ensure shade consistency across batches.
• Monitor R&D samples, pre-production wash approvals, and bulk wash continuity.

Quality Control

• Reduce defects such as shade variation, streaks, patches, twist issues, and damage during washing.
• Coordinate with QA and production teams for quality checks before and after washing.
• Ensure finished garments meet buyer testing requirements (colour fastness, PH, crocking, etc.).

Team & Machinery Management

• Supervise washing operators, helpers, and finishing teams.
• Provide training on SOPs, safety practices, and chemical handling.
• Monitor machine performance, coordinate with maintenance for repairs, and ensure minimal downtime.

Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with merchandising, production, and quality teams for wash approvals and planning.
• Share daily washing status reports with management.
• Coordinate with chemical suppliers for trials, new developments, and product training.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure safety norms in chemical storage, handling, and usage.
• Maintain proper documentation of MSDS, chemical inventory, and wash logs.
• Ensure compliance with buyer standards and factory policies.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Textile Processing, Garment Technology, or related field.
• 7–12 years of experience in garment washing, preferably in shirt manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of wet processes (enzyme, softener, bleach, rinse), dry processes, and finishing.
• Hands-on experience with industrial washing machines, hydro extractors, dryers, and boilers.
• Strong understanding of wash tests, chemical usage, and fabric behavior.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of sustainable washing practices and water-saving techniques.
• Understanding of Zero Discharge (ZLD) norms and effluent treatment processes.
• Experience with new wash developments and buyer R&D requirements.

Ability to handle pressure and meet strict timelines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹75,000.00 per month
