Job Description

Virtualization Engineer with strong Linux expertise

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and manage virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, Xen, or OpenStack).
  • Deploy and administer Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE) in virtualized and bare-metal environments.
  • Design and implement virtual infrastructure for high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Manage storage integration (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS) with virtual platforms.
  • Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot virtual machines, hosts, and clusters.
  • Automate provisioning and configuration using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for virtualized workloads.
  • Collaborate with application, network, and security teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and provide L2/L3 level support.
  • Stay updated on virtualization and Linux technology trends, applying best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Virtualization Platforms:

    VMware vSphere/ESXi, KVM, Hyper-V, Xen, OpenStack (any combination).
  • Linux Administration:

    Strong experience with RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or SUSE.
  • Scripting & Automation:

    Bash, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Storage & Backup:

    Knowledge of vSAN, vVols, NFS, iSCSI, Veeam, or similar backup tools.
  • Networking:

    VLANs, virtual switches, load balancing, firewalls in virtualized environments.
  • Performance Tuning:

    VM sizing, CPU/memory/storage optimization, kernel tuning.
  • Troubleshooting:

    Strong problem-solving skills in complex multi-vendor environments.
  • Certifications (preferred):

    RHCSA/RHCE, VCP (VMware Certified Professional), Red Hat Virtualization, or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in virtualization and Linux administration.
  • Hands-on experience in enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
