Job Summary Provides day-to-day technical and administrative support for logistics staff and activities. What You Will Do: Tracking and reporting on activities, costs and expenditures for all transportation modes. Verifying documents and checklists are accurate and complete. Notifying departments of shipping or receiving schedules and of any logistics problems. Maintaining records of all shipments and invoices using an established system. Degree Requirement Degree or equivalent experience desired What You Have: Standard Operating Procedures: Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP); ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency. Level Working Knowledge: Adjusts SOPs according to changes in organizational and industry procedures. Tracks deviations from and modifications to existing SOPs in business operations. Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulations and policies. Assists in establishing a standard operating procedure based on workflow and environment review. Reviews the efficiency of standard operating procedures in terms of performance improvement. Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision. Level Working Knowledge: Accurately gauges the impact and cost of errors, omissions, and oversights. Utilizes specific approaches and tools for checking and cross-checking outputs. Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy. Learns from mistakes and applies lessons learned. Develops and uses checklists to ensure that information goes out error-free. Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Level Basic Understanding: Names specific tools or techniques that can be used to support the analytical thinking process. Describes specific software applications or products used for business analytics. Gives examples of how analytical thinking has been used to resolve problems. Helps others research and learn more about business analytics tools and applications. Import/Export - MFG: Knowledge of issues, procedures, tools and practices of importing and exporting; ability to import and export goods to and from international locations. Level Basic Understanding: Explains commonly used import and export regulations of U.S. Customs. Identifies basic documentation required for importing or exporting goods. Describes typical letter of credit procedures and insurance requirements. Displays an overall understanding of the import and export process. Transportation - MFG: Knowledge of transportation; ability to transport materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers. Level Working Knowledge: Participates in arranging transportation of goods. Ensures on time shipments; anticipates and resolves shipping problems. Assists in calculating costs; uses associated billing and freight payment procedures. Follows process for issuing bids and analyzing responses from carriers. Works with at least one type of transportation mode and carrier. Logistics Management : Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies. Level Basic Understanding: Documents internal and external informative sources or proprietary materials about logistics management. Describes basic logistical processes and sub-processes. Explains how improvements in logistics contribute to competitive advantage in the marketplace. Identifies issues and considerations for inbound and outbound logistics.
