Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Chengalpattu for a Trainee Scientist specializing in Device Coatings & Surface Chemistry. Responsibilities include conducting research on innovative device coating technologies, developing coatings and surface modification techniques, performing material testing and analysis, and documenting results in detailed reports. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the development of high-quality medical device coatings meeting regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Strong foundation in Surface Chemistry, Material Science, and Biomaterials
• Experience or academic exposure to techniques such as chemical synthesis, coating technologies, and surface modification
• Analytical skills in material characterization methods, such as spectroscopy, microscopy, and mechanical testing
• Problem-solving and research skills to address challenges in device coatings and material applications
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• Prior experience or internships in medical device development or scientific research is advantageous
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and thorough documentation practices
• Assist in solution preparation, weighing, and reagent handling.
•  Learn to operate basic lab instruments (balances, pH meter, ovens).
• Support sample labeling, tracking, and data entry.
• Observe and assist in formulation and coating trials.
•  Maintain chemical inventory and consumable stocks.
•  Clean and maintain glassware, equipment, and workspace.

Education and Experience

•  BSc / MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Applied Chemistry, or a related discipline
• 0-2 years’ experience working in a lab
• Experience in handling acids, solvents and chemicals during graduation/postgraduation education.
