Job Description

Technical Writer

Department: Information Technology

Reports To: VP of IT & Data Management

Key Responsibilities

  • Documentation Development:

Create, maintain, and update a comprehensive library of IT documentation

(user guides, technical standards, process documents, and knowledge base

articles).

Develop documentation templates and enforce style guidelines to ensure

consistency and quality.

  • Collaboration & Research:

Work closely with IT staff and subject matter experts to gather and clarify

technical information.

Proactively track down details and ask the right questions to bridge gaps in

information.

  • Editing & Quality Assurance:

Edit and proofread content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to

company standards.

Maintain version control and update documents in line with changes in

technology, procedures, and organizational needs.

  • Support Knowledge Sharing:

Provide input on knowledge-sharing strategies and support training initiatives

through supplemental materials and instructional guides.

Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, ensuring timely

completion.

  • Additional Duties:

Perform other related writing or editing tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency:

Experience with document management systems, knowledge base platforms,

and common office productivity tools.

Strong writing and editing skills with a demonstrated ability to produce clear

and accurate technical documentation.

  • IT Knowledge:

Foundational understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and technical

terminology.

Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO, SOC) is a

strong plus.

  • Organizational & Communication Skills:

Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional

teams.

Required Education and Experience

  • Education:

Bachelors degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science,

Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent

professional experience).

  • Experience:

Minimum of 3 years as a technical writer, ideally within an IT or

technology-driven environment.

Other Job Requirements

  • Ability to adapt to varying work schedules as needed.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing; must be comfortable

operating a computer keyboard and reading diverse materials.

  • Capability to carry and lift materials up to 10 lbs.
