Technical Site Lead

Role & responsibilities

An Site Technical Lead oversees and directs the daily activities of an organization's IT department, ensuring systems, services, and infrastructure function reliably and securely. They manage IT staff, maintain network security, and align IT infrastructure with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing IT Staff: This includes hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating IT personnel.
• Ensuring System Uptime and Performance: Monitoring system stability and performance, and making recommendations for improvement.
• Network Security: Implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, antivirus, and user authorization.
• Hardware and Software Management: Overseeing the installation, configuration, and upgrades of hardware and software.
• Data Backup and Recovery: Managing data backup operations and ensuring data recovery processes are in place.
• Help Desk Support: Providing guidance and support to users through the help desk.
• Policy Development: Developing and implementing IT policies and procedures.
• Strategic Planning: Contributing to the strategic planning of IT infrastructure and operations.
• Problem Solving: Resolving issues escalated by technicians and engineers.
• Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation for IT systems and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate the IT team.
• Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of various IT domains, including DC and WAN networks, servers, hardware, and Devops,Kubernetes.

• Deep understanding of chaos theory in distributed systems: failure injection, fault tolerance, system degradation.

• Observability & Monitoring
• Automation & DevOps Toolchain
• Deep understanding of SLO/SLI/SLA definitions.
• Capacity planning, auto-scaling, load testing, and incident management.
• Experience implementing runbooks, playbooks, and post-mortem analysis.

• Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with IT staff, users, and vendors.
• Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Bachelor's Degree: Typically a bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field.
