The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that all materials, components, and services sourced from suppliers & EMS service providers meet company quality requirements. The role involves evaluating, developing, and monitoring suppliers, driving incoming quality performance, and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory standards. The SQE works closely with procurement, engineering, and operational quality to build a reliable and capable supply base.

Qualifications:

Education:

Diploma / Bachelors degree in Mechatronics / Mechanical / Electronics or related.

Experience:

3 7 years of experience in supplier quality or process quality in EMS/Electronics/Automotive manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Quality Assurance
Evaluate, qualify, and approve suppliers based on quality and process capability.
Conduct supplier audits (process, system, and product) against ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / customer requirements.
Ensure supplier compliance to APQP and PPAP requirements.
Review and approve supplier PPAP submissions, FMEA, Control Plans, and process documentation.
Incoming Quality Control
Define inspection standards, acceptance criteria, and sampling plans for incoming materials.
Monitor supplier performance (incoming PPM, defect trends) and drive improvement actions.
Manage non-conforming material (NCMR), supplier corrective actions, and disposition.
Collaborate with stores and operational quality for effective quarantine, segregation, and traceability.
Supplier Development & Improvement
Partner with procurement and engineering to improve supplier processes and reduce defects.
Provide technical support to suppliers for problem-solving and process improvements.
Drive cost of poor quality (COPQ) reduction by addressing recurring supplier issues.
Lead supplier improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis tools.

Key Skills:

Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
Hands-on experience in supplier audits, PPAP approvals, and NCMR handling.
Expertise in PPAP, APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans.
Supplier audit and assessment skills (VDA 6.3 knowledge preferred).
Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills (8D, 5-Why, DMAIC).
Ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.

Preferred Certifications:

ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
IATF 16949:2016 Awareness/Internal Auditor.
IPC-A-610 certification.
Core Tools Certification (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt (added advantage).
