Job Description

As a Supplier Development Engineer at Wing, you will play a critical role in strengthening the supply chain by collaborating with the Engineering, Sourcing, and Supply Chain teams. Your responsibilities will include: - Collaborating with Sourcing and Engineering teams to define technical requirements and specifications for new components and assemblies. - Conducting in-depth technical assessments of potential suppliers to evaluate their manufacturing processes, engineering capabilities, quality management systems, and overall technical competency. - Participating in supplier site visits and audits, providing critical technical input during the down-selection phase. - Working with manufacturing process and quality engineering to develop and implement robust supplier qualification processes, including APQP, PPAP reviews, DFM/DFA, and quality control. - Providing hands-on technical support during the onboarding of new suppliers, assisting with process optimization, tooling validation, and initial production runs. - Identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvement initiatives with supplier performance for quality, yield, and cost. - Working with suppliers to implement corrective and preventative actions, root cause analysis, and timely resolution. - Monitoring supplier performance from a technical perspective, providing regular feedback and support for improvement. - Acting as a technical liaison between internal engineering, reliability, quality, sourcing, and supply chain teams and external manufacturers/suppliers. - Communicating complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Collaborating cross-functionally to align supplier development strategies with overall business objectives. Qualifications required for this role include: - 5+ years of experience in supplier development, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a similar role within a technical manufacturing environment. - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent experience. - Proven experience in conducting technical supplier assessments and audits. - Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, electronics assembly, SMT, etc. - Experience with quality management systems and tools like FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D, 5 Whys. - Proficiency in statistical process control, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, NPI, and fixture design/qualification. - Experience working with a global supply chain. - Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
