About The Role Wing is looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing and Supply Chain team. This role will be based in Chennai, India . This position seeks a candidate with a deep enthusiasm for innovative drone technology and its scaled production. This individual will bring proven expertise in manufacturing process development and optimization for sophisticated drone systems, especially during new product introduction in partnership with contract manufacturers. What You’ll Do Serve as the primary on-site Manufacturing Engineering lead at the Contract Manufacturing (CM) facility, acting as the central point of contact and technical expert for all manufacturing process-related activities and issues. Collaborate closely with Program Management, Quality, and Testing teams to ensure complete production coverage, driving quality and efficiency in the manufacturing process. Drive the resolution of manufacturing issues in a CM environment by problem-solving via Design of Experiments (DOEs), from setup and execution to analysis and implementation. Provide engineering guidance and support for the design, development, and implementation of mechanical jigs and fixtures, aimed at enhancing process control and maximizing operational efficiency. Develop standard processes and documentation for manufacturing processes including process flow chart, SOP, tool and fixture requirements and specifications. Partner with Design teams to integrate and champion Design for Manufacturability (DFM/A) principles early in the product development cycle, influencing designs for optimal manufacturability, cost, and reliability. Seamlessly interface with Design, Quality, and Sourcing teams to ensure efficient component sourcing, rigorous qualification, and successful integration into manufacturing processes. 10-15% domestic travel is expected. What You’ll Need 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering roles, including driving a product from NPI to Mass Production. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical field. Strong manufacturing background in developing robust and repeatable processes to scale new products, including process design, fixture development, and line qualification in a fast-paced environment. Experience with PCB and SMT processes, as well as knowledge of coating application and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) is a plus. Ability to provide DFM/DFA feedback to support continuous manufacturing improvement at vendors and contract manufacturers Strong problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to identify root causes, conduct data-driven analysis, and implement effective, sustainable solutions. Ability to use 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, Creo, SolidWorks) to review fixture design, analysis, and minor modifications. Understanding of GD&T principles, applications, measurement methods and tolerance stack-up analysis for component and assembly design. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners. The manufacturing software test team develops automated test systems and infrastructure for mass production of Wing's aircrafts.
