Job Description


The Hindu is looking for SEO editors for its online desk to be a part of its digital media growth. You are the ideal candidate if your go to place to find answers is a search engine browser and you know many more search engines other than Google! You should understand how search engines work, be able to identify and keep track of trends, including breaking news, news developments across the verticals. You should be able to coordinate between editorial and non-editorial teams. You should be strong in English language and be able to write factually accurate, error-free articles quickly. The job also involves extensively revising articles to suit the referrer traffic. We are a 24*7 newsroom, so flexibility to work in any shift and meet short and tight deadlines is a must.


Responsibilities:


Optimise articles, pages for search engines.

Track search trends and commission articles for trending topics.

Write error-free, both factual and grammatical, articles on trending topics.

Rewrite articles to suit search and social traffic.

Write and edit articles to ensure they are evergreen.

Monitor site analytics and find ways to improve referrer traffic.

Coordinate between the technical and editorial staff to improve website and page ranking.

Curate articles based on trending topics.

Train editorial team members on search engine optimisation.



Requirements:


Any degree/post-graduation, preferably with journalism or communication as a major subject.

2-3 years of work experience in a SEO desk of a media organisation.

Knowledge on search-engine optimisation.

Flair for news, politics, latest developments.

Good writing, editing, and language skills.

Ability to write quick, error-free articles in tight deadlines.

Understanding of HTML, website analytics, social media optimisation.

Familiarity with Google products such as Discover, Question Hub, Search Console.

Flexibility to work in shifts and on public holidays.

Prior experience in handling content management systems is a bonus.

Good communication skills & Team player.
