1. RFQ & Costing
Prepare and release RFQs for plastics, stamping, any other direct Raw materials, components and tooling suppliers based on engineering drawings/specification. Lead end-to-end RFQ processes for commercial tooling (Build/Run & Build/Transfer) and raw materials such as metals, resins, cables, and electronics. Collect, consolidate, and analyze supplier quotations; benchmark costs using should-cost models and market data. Align bidder lists with strategic sourcing and commodity teams to ensure compliance with sourcing strategies and supplier capabilities. Recommend sourcing decisions based on technical and commercial evaluation. Support supplier negotiations and contract finalization in collaboration with legal and commercial teams. Maintain accurate documentation of RFQ responses, cost breakdowns, and supplier communications.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align procurement strategies with product requirements. Identify, assess, and qualify suppliers for plastic molding, stamping, and Toolings. Conduct supplier capability assessments and support audits (PPAP, APQP). Collaborate with MDE/Tooling teams on part/tool design for manufacturability and cost optimization. Track tooling development timelines, ensuring on-time delivery and validation. Participate in design-to-cost and value engineering workshops.
3. Cost Management
Conduct detailed cost analysis to support sourcing decisions for new product introductions. Develop and validate should-cost models for components and assemblies using market data and manufacturing process insights. Benchmark supplier quotations against internal cost models and industry standards. Analyze BOMs to identify key cost drivers and areas for cost optimization. Collaborate with engineering and design teams to propose alternative materials or processes that reduce cost without compromising quality. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams. Facilitate idea exchange sessions with internal stakeholders and suppliers to generate innovative cost-reduction proposals. Provide regular updates to project teams on cost status versus targets.Work proactively with stakeholders to address cost gaps and ensure alignment with financial expectations.Support decision-making with clear, data-driven cost insights and recommendations.
4. Project Execution
Serve as the India-based sourcing engineer for industrial products targeted at the Indian market, ensuring compliance with local regulations, government initiatives, and customer-specific requirements. Support localization efforts in alignment with strategies like 70% Country of Origin (COO) rule and the Grow in India (GII) strategy, driving cost-effective and compliant sourcing solutions. Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Indirect Procurement) to ensure supplier alignment and timely project execution. Maintain tracking tools across prototype, pre-production, and mass production phases, and work closely with suppliers to ensure timely updates, adherence to schedules, and alignment with overall project timelines.
5. Compliance & Governance
Ensure all procurement activities adhere to TE policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations. Maintain documentation for audit trails, supplier approvals, and cost justifications.
