Staff Nurse

Job Description

A Staff Nurse's primary role is to provide direct patient care, focusing on assessment, care planning, medication administration, and monitoring. They collaborate with other healthcare professionals, educate patients and families, and maintain patient records. Staff Nurses also contribute to maintaining a safe and clean patient environment. Key Responsibilities Include: Patient Assessment and Care Planning: Evaluating patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. Medication Administration: Administering prescribed medications, monitoring patients for side effects, and ensuring medication safety. Monitoring and Vital Signs: Tracking vital signs, monitoring patient conditions, and reporting any changes or concerns to the physician. Patient Education: Providing education to patients and families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care instructions. Maintaining Patient Records: Documenting patient assessments, observations, treatments, and care plans accurately and completely. Collaborating with Other Healthcare Professionals: Communicating with physicians, other nurses, and support staff to ensure coordinated patient care. Maintaining a Safe and Clean Environment: Contributing to the maintenance of a safe, clean, and organized patient area. Supervision of Nursing Assistants: Supervising and guiding nursing assistants in their tasks. Operating and Monitoring Medical Equipment: Operating and monitoring medical equipment used in patient care. Additional Responsibilities May Include: Performing Diagnostic Tests: Assisting with diagnostic tests and analyzing results. Providing Emotional Support: Offering emotional and psychological support to patients and families. Participating in Quality Improvement Initiatives: Contributing to quality improvement efforts within the healthcare facility. Teaching Nursing Students: Teaching and supervising nursing students.
